Time Out Committee Sponsors Hobby Hour With much scurrying after elusive ping-pong balls, and with breath-taking leaps for badminton birds, student ath letes hailed the Hobby Hour, popular last year and reintroduced into the re gular sports calendar last week. The time is eleven until two on Mon days, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and twelve to one on Tuesdays and Thurs days. The place is the gymnasium, and a va riety of social sports, including badmin ton, shuffleboard, basketball, ping-pong, and what-you-will are on the program. Especially dextrous with the shuffle- board disks are Rosemary Murnighan, Ruth Mary Cardy, and Gertrude Feeny, while Jean Spanuth and Mary Louise Sylvester, Patricia Bristol and Constance Spratt, and Patricia McEnroe are bad minton stars. Among the ping-pong enthusiasts are Margaret Wicland, Joan Kaspari, Clare Anderson, Georgette Thoss, Jane Ross, Dorothy Crowley, Betty McDermott, Corinne Bauer, and Janet Thompson. The Big Apple Hour, sponsored by the Time Out committee ,of the Sodality, is hejd on Mondays and Wednesdays at 11 :20 and on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:20. There are smiles that make us happy, true, smiles that make us blue, there are smiles that show we've been places . . . here arc smiles for some of you . . . Loyola's Green Circle Dance at Palatine prob ably consisted of many more circles of the Big Apple. Among the dancers were Mary Louise Sylvester, Mar guerite O'Brien, Jean and Virginia Reilly, Marilyn Jaycox, and Mar guerite McNulty . . . Many of us have enjoyed hearing Marjorie Mc- Partland's singing at school, but Rosemary Murnighan, Virginia Har rington, and Alice O'Brien were a few of those who saw her excellent performance in St. Jerome's Minstrel show . . . Marjorie Thomas has been speaking the thoughts of many of us by acclaiming Brother Rat . . . Annamarie Berk, Clare An derson, Helen Conlon, Regina Demmer, Carol Sweeney, Doro thy Nugent were thrilled with Ceil ing Zero, the dramatic offering of our next door neighbors . . . And at Loyola's After The Theatre party were Peggy Jordan and Catherine Ann Dougherty . . . Veronica Gill Display Scripts At Radio Meeting Members of the Faculty attended the second national conference on Educa tional Broadcasting held Nov. 20, 30, and Dec. 1 at the Drake Hotel. An exhibit, depicting work done in drama and radio at Mundelein. was displayed for the convention. Attend Sessions Of Science Group Sister Mary St. Helen, B.V.M., Sis ter Mary Therese, B.V.M., Sister Mary Martinette, B.V.M., and Sister Mary Maurine, B.V.M., attended the sessions of the American Physical society at the University of Chicago on Nov. 26 and 27. The regional meeting, which drew scientists from all neighboring slates, consisted mainly of reports of research done in theoretical physics. Librarians Announce Two Contest Winners Constance Campbell and Margaret Mary Krcusch won first and second place respectively in the picturc-puzzle- book-contest, sponsored by the library during book week. The prizes were two valuable books, Agnes Repplier's In Pursuit Of Laugh ter as first prize, and for second Mc- Conville's GENTLEMAN O.N HORSEBACK. Martha Van Dyke's preview of Second Honeymoon at the Fox Studio entertained Betty Haffner, Helen Coens, June Tripp, and Mary K. O'Conner . . . There is nothing like ice-skating for Mary Jagor, Christine Soracco, and Ellen Teitz, after a recent evening at the Chicago Arena rink . . . Our opera goers are Violet Lasker, who enjoyed Grace Moore starring in Manon, and Jose phine Reichl, the opera enthusiast, who witnessed the opening perfor mance, and attended two perfor mances since then . . . The Notre Dame-Southern California skirmish on the field of action brought out Rosemary Conley, Jeanne Beck, Anne Stanton, and Margaret Callahan . . . Doing their hit for old Notre Dame, Maxine Lindsay and Magel Brown tended the Mundelein booth and answered questions about the adjoin ing booth Notre Dame's at the Evanston Hi-Y club's campus day last month. Representatives from 40 col leges and universities were there to guide the Evanstonians to this and that campus . . . Home economists Sue Adams, Mary Agnes Kin- sella, Betty Crist, Genevieve Kru- zel, and Catherine Heerey were guests at a Field Day sponsored by the Home Economists Women in Business clubs recently . . . Eleanor Lally's time over the holidays will be occupied by the visit of one of Georgetown university's loyal sons . . .
