Faculty additions :e tall term pretaa The Mundelein faculty will gam new members during the next academic year as well as lose a number of those who will be teaching, studying under fellowships and grants, or on leaves of - absence working toward degrees. Several promotions, new de partment heads, and instructors have also been announced. New faculty appointments for 1968-69 include Sister Mary Frances Shea, assistant dean of freshman; Edmund S. Przy- bylski, associate professor of library science and li brarian; Stuart Goldman, chairman of the math depart ment ; and Sister Louise French, chairman of the phi losophy department Other new members are Miss Marilyn Chapin, Sister Mary Anne Hoope, instructors, and William Hill, associate profes sor, in the theology depart ment; and Sister Howard Dig- nan, associate professor in psychology. Miss Linda Pascal will teach in the home eco nomics department, and Sister Kathcrine Tillman will join the philosophy faculty. Sister Marianne Littau, who will be completing her studies al IIT. will teach part-time in the math department. Mrs. Jeffrey Spencer, who has been on leave and has now completed most of her work toward her Ph.D. in English at Northwest ern University, will return to teach English at Mundelein during the winter and spring terms. Three faculty members have received promotions. Sister Elsa Copeland, French, with a Ph.D. from the University of Paris: Sister Carol Frances Jegen, theology, with a Ph.D. from Marquette University; and Dr Irene Meyer, psychol ogy, with a Ph.D. from St. Louis University, are now as sociate professors in their re spective departments. May 31, 1968 No 21 37th senior class graduates June 9 Mundelein College will graduate its largest class at the 37th commencement June 9. :i p.m. in the College Theater. Sister Ann Ida Cannon. College president, will confer degrees on 330 graduating seniors. Gardner Cowles, founder and chairman of the board of Look magazine will give the com mencement address on The Challenging Future. Lee Schooler, chairman of the Mundelein Board of Trustees will introduce the speaker. Cowles also will receive an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from the Col lege for his extraordinary knowledge of contemporary affairs and his exactness in shaping (he public conscious ness through his publications. The College also will confer an honorary Doctor of Laws degree on Frederick T. Asch- man, engineer and former director of the Chicago Plan ning Commission and the Cook County Housing Authority. Aschman, known throughout the country as a leading city planner, is responsible for Chi cago's network of expressways and the development of parks and fores preserves. Reverend John Ileffernan will deliver the commence ment invocation. The faculty will lead the seniors in academic proces sion into the College Theatre where Sister Mary Griffin, ac ademic dean, will present the degree candidates to the Col lege president. Among the 330 graduates will be 11 members of the Degree Completion Pro gram. 27 special students and 42 B.V.M. Scholastics. Two hundred and eighty-sev en students will receive bache lor of arts degrees, thirty-four will receive bachelor of sci ence degrees and nine will re ceive bachelor of fine arts de grees.
