(Story in Col. 1.) Freshmen Plan Nominations Hear Lectures On History Of College, Study Nominations for Freshmen class officers will be held Thursday, Oct. 22. at 1 p.m. in the college audito rium. The nominator must secure the signature of the nominee and have the Dean's approval of the candidate. The Dean will sign nomination slips on Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 20 and 21. Nominations close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. The campaign will open officially after the assembly on Thursday, when the nominees will present their speeches of acceptance. Elections will be held on Monday, Oct. 26. Freshmen will attend counselor meetings Oct. 20 to discuss leader ship, procedure of nominating for class offices, and the benefits and qualities of a class officer. Sister Mary John Michael, B.V.M., President of the College, talked to the freshmen, Oct. 15 on the history and traditions of the College. Study habits, note-taking and pre paring for tests were explained to the class, Oct. 8. English Queen Reigns On Boards Of Mundelein Stage An era was named for an English queen. The Drama department will present Victoria Regina the story of this queen Nov. 6, 7, and 8 in the auditorium at 8:30 p.m. Laurence Housman, author, chooses 10 incidents from his pre viously published volume of Vic toria's life and dramatizes them. They reveal Victoria's meeting and marriage with Albert and stress the romance of the pair until the death of the Prince. Because the English censor be lieved the personality of Victoria was too sacred for stage representa tion, the play was denied production in England. The Mundelein cast includes Me lita Lynch and Geraldine O'Keefe as Victoria; Patricia Winkler and Lucille Youngmann, as Lehben; and Mary Lou Hirsh and Sylvia Skelly as the queen's mother. The part of Lady Muriel will be played by Peggy Moran and Marie Roach. Cast as Lady Grace are Catherine Lamb and Mary Ann Carroll. Monica Brodbeck and Joyce Gordon will portray Lady Jane, while the Duchess will be played by Joan Sramek and Mary Shear- The Civic Opera House aglow with lights, Jose'Greco on his op- ening night, the scent of gardeni- as, the swish of formals, the feel of satin these are the elements of a wonderful, exciting evening. Making possible this evening of Oct. 23 are the students who have led or joined committees, created enthusiasm for the ballet, given their time generously that the Col lege and all Chicago may enjoy a performance of ranking entertain ment. The opening night is their bouquet. Heading all the committees is Catherine Lamb, Student Activities Council president, who announced last week that Sylvia Grigul has submitted the winning design in the Sou venir Program cover contest, and that Sheila Enright sub mitted the winning verse in the contest sponsored by the Stylus club. Sheila Woods, chairman of the Publicity committee, headed the group which dreamed up the mo biles and the murals in the lounge and all the other campus promo- I lions. Assisting Miss Woods were I Mary Agnes Moran, Mary Lou Rohlfing, Marilyn Smith, Sylvia Grigul. Margaret Ackermann, Jo Ann Picola, Margaret Yuhas, Eu genia Krupowicz, and the Activi- I ties Coordination board. Securing advertisements for the Souvenir program were Barbara Moran and Jeri McGrath, chair men, assisted by Rosemary Am- I brose, Ann Codd, Audrey Herbert, Emily Kloc, Catherine McMana mon, Mary Lou O'Brien, Charline Quinn, and Loretta Rezutko. Co-chairmen of the Patron committee, Virginia Gilles and Mary Ann Lashmet, were as sisted by Vasilia Soutsos, Eleanor Tarpey, Judy Czar nik, Patricia Anderson, Lu cille Hamilton, Elaine Kogut, and Sylvia Behland. Also on the Patron committee were Margaret Sherly, Phyllis Wockner, Rosemary Wolf hart, Re gina Rauchas, Sally Harrison, Pa tricia King, Alice Campbell, Ann Des Marais, and Betty Hentschel. Assisting Leda Pitaro and Mar garet Laird, chairmen, on the Ticket committee, are Marguerite (Continued on Page 4, Col. 3.) Masked Quests Mingle At Mixer The Hallowe'en Mixer, sponsored by the SAC and the NFCCS overseas program committee, and managed by the new Junior Arrangement board, will not be a costume party, says Alice Dixon, board chairman, but all guests will wear masks. The size, shape, color of the mask is for the guest to decide, Miss Dixon observes, and variety in design will add gaiety to the party. Held in the gymnasium and the social rooms, the inform al party will begin at 8 p.m. Oct. 27 Concert Marks Two BVM Anniversaries Four Mundelein alumnae and one member of the Faculty will present an anniversary concert at the stu dent assembly, Oct. 27. The concert will commemorate the foundation of the Sisters of Charity, B.V.M., Nov. 1, 1833, and the feast day of the Foundress, Mother Mary Francis Clarke, Oct. 4. Representing the Faculty, Sister Mary Raphaeldis. B.V.M., will play the Dohnanyi Rhapsody, Opus 11, Number 2, and The Fountain of the Acqua Paola, from Roman Sketches by Griffes. Sister Mary Raphaeldis has studied at the University of Colo rado, and the American Conser vatory. Sister Mary Grace Andrea, B.V.M., will sing Nymphs and Shepherds, by Purcell; Caro Nome, by Verdi; To the Birds, by Hue, and Ecstasy by Rummel. Sister Mary James Michael, B.V.M., will play the Liszt Etude in D Flat, and Ravel's Jeux d'Eau. Sister Mary Charline, B.V.M., will sing a selection from Bizet's Carmen; the Prelude from Ronald's A Cycle of Life; Swallows by Dell Acqua, and The Lost Jewel. Composer of the Lost Jewel is Sister Mary Emilissa, B.V.M., who has set to music the words of the poem by Emily Dickinson.
