Page Four - The SKYSCRAPER - March 1, 1968 College approves no-hours priviledge Man of La Mundelein Photo by Pot Bolino The administrative council, faculty modera tors and the residence council approved a no- hours policy for seniors and students 21 years of age, Feb. 12. The College has agreed to hire a night desk attendant twice a week for Coffey Hall and the Northland. According to Rosemary O'Brien, resi dence council president, the no-hours policy will begin in Spring. Rosemary added, We hope to take 300 from our treasury to extend the privilege one extra night a week. A vote taken by the resi dents to secure funds was approved 17-1. News Briefs Television Shows: Sister Mary I. Griffin, academ ic dean, appeared on KYW, Philadelphia tele vision, Feb. 29 and is appearing on KDKN, Pittsburgh television, to day. The topic, Revo lution in the Post-Coun- ciliar Church, will be Elect senior students to honor society This year's election to the National Catholic woman's honor society, Kappa Gamma Pi, which will be held during the week of March 4, will in clude both Catholic and non-Catholic candidates. Previously, the national honor society considered only Catholics who quali fied in terms of academic and personal leadership. The Mundelein Scho lastic average for Kappa Gamma Pi consideration is 2.5. The other qualifca- tions are: two years at tendance at the college, leadership qualities in on and off campus activities, and seven semesters of college credit with hon ors. Elected by the senior class and faculty, Kappa Gamma Pi members con stitute ten percent of the graduating class. the mainspring for the interview and discus sion program. Counselling Lecture: Emotional Problems of College Students with special emphasis on the urban student, will be the topic of the third Mundelein Coun selling Service lecture March 6, 7:00 p.m. in McCormick Lounge. It will be given by Dr. John E. Kysar, associ ate professor of psychi atry, University of Illi nois Circle Campus, and director of the Student Health Center there. Join CSCASG: MSC re cently passed a propos al to join the Central States College Associa tion Student Govern ment (CSCASG). The proposal resulted after a visit here by Jack Da vis, president of CSCASG and student of St. John's University in College- ville, Minn. CSCASG holds two conventions a year, one in the spring to conduct elections and one in fall to plan aca demic and social activi ties to be carried out during the year. Dues are 75 a year and Julie Colacino is Mundelein's delegate. Young Republicans: The Young Republican Club attended an Illinois Young Republican Col lege Federation Conven tion in Springfield. Math Tournament: The annual Mundelein math ematics tourney for high school girls has been cancelled. The pur pose of the tournament, according to Sister Ce cilia Moran, chairman of the mathematics de partment was to stim ulate excellence In math ematics among high school girls. After dis cussion with the faculty of some of the partici pating schools it was agreed that there is enough motivation from other sources so that the Mathematics tourney could be dropped.
