Loyola President Qives Address At Baccalaureate The Very Reverend James E. Maguire. S.J., president of Loyola university, will give the Baccalaur eate address. Sunday, June 3, at 4 p.m.. in the college theatre. Past president of West Baden college. West Baden. Indiana, and of Xavier university, Cincinnati, Father Maguire came to Loyola as president last August. His administrative activities have included membership on the Liberal Arts commission of the As sociation of American Colleges, chairmanship of the National Re lief committee for Jesuit colleges in Europe destroyed during the war. Preceding the Address, the Sen iors, Faculty. Administration, and Honor Guests will march in pro cession to the auditorium, with George F. Petterson, of the Drama department, serving as marshal. Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament will conclude the Bacca laureate ceremony. The College (Irehestra, conduct ed by Mr. Adalbert Huguelet. will play the Processional and Reces sional music at both Baccalaureate and Commencement. Moonyeen Brown will play the organ. Juniors Entertain Luncheon Guests .After the unior-Senior luncheon at M M Club of the Merchandise Mart, May 16. Dorothy Consii'ine. Melani Breundl, and Patricia Car roll opened the program with a skit which gave the Seniors a glimpse into the future. Joan Kies played piano selec tions, and Therese Indelli followed with a song. Moonyeen Brown and Carole Bauer presented their ver sion of the AH-Ameriean Girl. A verse choir consisting of Bet ty Garbais. Maureen Cella. Toni Cassaretto, Carol Pauly, Dolores Ferraro, Mary Jane Long, Marie Coyle, Valerie Luback, Margaret Coughlan, and Mary Kelly pre sented A Tribute to the Seniors, written by Rita Caprini. After Mary Drever's address as Junior president, the Senior class president, Catherine McManamon. concluded the program with a brief message to both Juniors and Seniors. Grace and the singing of the College Song sealed one more memory for the Class of 1956. Jun ior committee members included Betty Garbais, who planned the en tertainment, and Dorothy Haley, who took care of the invitations and place cards. Show Year In Flashbacks At College Day Assembly The College song, sung for the last time in 1955-56, will open the College Day program Thursday, May 24. at 10 a.m., in the audi torium. Virginia Leidinger, Student Ac tivities Council president, will lead the Memorare for the last time, and introduce class and . iub represen tatives. Patricia Doherty will talk on the Art club year; Mary Cecchin on the Cecilian year, and Patricia Far rell on Vital Speaker activities. Lucille Youngmann will talk for the I aetare Players; Frances Bren nan for the Economics club; Therese Salvato for the Home Economics department, and Ann Kobal for 1 nternational Relations. Mary Hartigan will talk for the Language clubs; Nancy Ferrigan for the Science Forum; Mary Lambrecht for the Sports groups. Marie Kobielus for Writer's Inc. Miss Leidinger will then give her Farewell Address as SAC president, and will administer the oath of office to incoming officers, Patricia O'Donnell, Rosemary Esposito, Lynne Sheeran, and Annette Busse. Miss Codd, a Magna Cum Laude graduate and a Psychology major, is vice-president of the Orchestra and director of the Service club. A Mathematics major. The Hand That Twisted the Cat's Tail Is Now Bejeweled Freshman Patricia Riordan captures some of the wonder of romance in her comment on engaged students: When dia monds flash along the busy corridors, I marvel at the evo lution of the dainty hands they adorn from the chubby fists that so recently turned jump ropes and pulled the tails of the neighbors' cats. Commencement often leads to matrimony as many alumnae will testify. Not wishing to flaunt tra dition 30 members of the class of 1956 have started making plans. First to be graduated and first to be married is Mary Patricia Cur ran who received her degree in February. Miss Curran will be wed to Lt. Martin A. Culbane on May 26 at St. Timothy's. Members of the bridal party are Catherine Ful- lenkamp and Anna Leah Manos. Another first (first June bride ) is Sally Fitzgerald who will become Mrs. Robert Cummins on June 9 at St. Margaret Mary's. June 23 is the date of Barbara Gibson's marriage to Lt. Neal J. Ilalloran at St. M.-irv-of-the-Woods church. Bridesmaids are Patricia Kilday and Mary Ann Carroll. Lois Kengott and Gerald l'obn have chosen July 14 for their wed ding, which will take place at St. Bartholomew's. Francecn Camp bell is maid-of-honor. Jane Doyle's marriage to Edmund T. Burke is scheduled for August 4 at St. Philip Neri. Mary Jule Greeley and John Durkin have reserved August 11 at St. .Angela's. Bridal attendants arc Grace Greeley '52, Jean Wagborne ex '56. and Kathleen Walsdorf. August 11 is also the date of Jean Sieja's wedding to Peter A. Loiacono Jr., at St. Viator's. Eliza beth Nash is in the bridal party. Vivian Carroll's wedding to Da vid A. Hock will take place August 18 at St. Andrew's church. Brides maids arc Beverly Battiste and Ei leen Ward ex '56. Another August 18 wedding is Sarah Rotto's. She will wed Don ald Winke at St. Edward's church. Marie Sciaraffa and Anne David son will lie bridesmaids. Lenore Walker will be married to William Binzer on August 18 at St. Tar- issus. Xancy Ferrigan and Martin Kin- navy will be married Sept. 1 at St. Angela's. In the bridal party will be Rose Anne McGreal and Joan Budicin. Sept. 22, Stephanie Jackson will wed Salvatore Ferrara at St. Mary- of-the-Woods. Constance Ferrara and Joanne Matuszak Hoffman ex '56 will be included among the bridesmaids. Rosemary Kelly and Nick Jans will be married the same day at St. Joseph's church in Libertyville. Pa tricia Farrell. Barbara Kautb, and Catherine Kelly will be in the wed ding party. Also a September bride is Jo Anne Reilly who will marry En sign James J. Connors Sept. 3. Dorothy Mebalek's wedding to Ronald Haydenek will take place Nov. 17 at Blessed Sacrament church. Attendants will be Judy Rvan Beacom and Franceen Camp bell. Dec. 29 is the date of Therese Salvato's marriage to John Webb Luce at Visitation church. Brides- maides will be Anne Fitzgerald and Mary Ann Pacella. On the same day Janet Jameson will wed Joseph Williams in Holy Cross Church. Winter weddings are being plan ned by Barbara Mannix, who is engaged to John Broderick. and Elaine Stefan whose fiance is Robert Goepp. Miss Stefan's attendants will be Geraldine Gadecki. Barbara Kautb. and Sonja Semiginowski. Summer, 1957. promises to be a busv season. Looking forward to June weddings are Mary Apel, en gaged to Lawrence Cahill; Jane Powers, engaged to Joseph O'Con nor; Ann Michels, engaged to Frank Burke; Kathleen Cronin engaged to Walter Ahem, Anne Fitzgerald engaged to Vincent Cor coran, and Elizabeth Nash engaged to Tames Diamond. Jane Murphy and her fiance. Ken neth J. Martin, have not set a date yet. Uncertain wedding arrange ments are shared by Lorraine De Bartolo, whose fiance Donald Mul len is stationed with the army in Japan, and Dagmar Elsnic whose fiance, William Mulac. is stationed in Hawaii. Jean Kielty's fiance, Lt. David E. O'Connell. is completing his tour of duty in Korea, and Anne Lange's fiance is 'Thomas Kearns, with the army in Germany. Use Library All During Vacation Library service will be available during the summer for students who wish to be prepared in their major or are interested in other fields. Except some books needed for summer courses and some recent popular titles, books may be kept for a month instead of two weeks. Library books may be mailed to the College if it is inconvenient to bring them back.
