College Launches Red Cross Drive In cooperation with the annual plea of the American Red Cross, the College Red Cross unit will launch its fund drive at an assembly on Feb. 27. The drive, which will aim at complete coverage of the school, will extend from Feb. Tl to Mar. 7. The members of the student bexly on the fund-raising committee are Mari anne Peterson, president of the SAC, Mary Jo Bornhofen, Jeanne Skepnek, Patricia Muckian, and Noreen Roche, class vice-presidents; and officers of the college Red Cross chapter. Contests Summon Creative Writers To Submit Papers The call to pen and typewriter sounds through the halls with the announcement of two creative writing contests; one sponsored by the College and the other by the Catholic Press Association. The first is Mundelein's Sixteenth consecutive contest to encourage literary and artistic talents. Any student is eligible whether or not she has written for any school publica tions and may submit as many entries to any division as she wishes. Six Types Accepted The contest opens six avenues of achievement; essay, verse, short story, editorial, contemporary criticism and creative art. The deadline for manu scripts is April 8. The second summons, for short stories only, comes from the Catholic Press association, whose Literary Award com mittee expresses the desire that Catholic writers handle the great moral problems of the day. Nationwide in scope, the contest tempts Catholic writers with five generous cash awards. Catholics Qualify Only Catholic writers qualify, and authors are not limited to one manu script. Any theme may be treated which is not contrary to Christian doctrine or morals. Entries must be postmarked by mid night of March 31, 1947, and addressed to Contest Chairman, Catholic Press Asso ciation, Box 389, Davenport, la. The New World, Chicago weekly diocesan is offering additional prize- money to winners of the Catholic Press Contest if the manuscripts are entered through its office. The deadline for the New World is March IS. Model U.N. Draws IRC Delegation Marquette Is Host to Qeneral Assembly, Mar. 1 Fourteen International Relations Club college groups will participate in a Mod el United Nations Assembly, sponsored by the Marquette group, at Milwaukee on March 1. Mundelein, pleading the cause of Bra zil, will be represented by Florence Moore, chairman of the Mundelein group and delegate to the Political and Security committee; Jacqueline Bled soe, chairman of the Economic council; Mary Clare Harrold, Economic and Financial delegate; and Phyllis Baum- gaertner, Trusteeship delegtate. Delegates will participate in a General -Assembly, two plenary sessions, and four committee meetings. Card Party Plans Set in Motion For April 25 Its Card Party Time I The annual spring Card Party and Fashion Revue will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Stevens Hotel on April 25. Marianne Peterson, Student Activities Council president, is general chairman. S.A.C. members Regina Bess and Gloria Volini head the Advertisement committee. Mary Margaret Doyle and Joan Merrick are in charge of the Pa tron committee. The Ticket committee is headed by Rita Stalzer and Mary Leona Merrick. Marcella Volini and Blanche Smith will supervise the Door committee. In charge of the Table committee are Jeanne (Continued on page 4, column 2) Senior Piano, Voice Majors Inaugurate Graduate Recitals Catherine Prendergast, senior piano major will open a season of graduation recitals on Feb. 28 at 3 p.m. in the col lege theatre. Junior Mary Heinz, so prano, will assist Miss Prendergast. The first part of the program will be devoted to1 Beethoven's Sonata Appa3sion- ata. The seconel part of Miss Prendergast's program will include Chopin's Etude in G Flat major, Prelude in F Sharp minor, and Ballade in G minor. The third part of the program will ex hibit Liszt's Petrarch Sonata and his ar rangement of Paganini's Etude in E Flat major. Miss Prendergast will also play De bussy's Gold Fish, and for a finale, the Spanish Dance by De Falla. Eunice Dankowski, voice major, will give her senior recital on Sunday, March 3. Her first group of selections will in clude Perduta by Doraudy, Nina by Per- golesi, Handel's O Sleep, Why Dost Thou Leave Me?, and Mozart's Alle luia. Miss Dankowski's next group will in clude Gesang Weylas by Wolf, Meine Licbe 1st Grun by Brahms, Debussy's Romance, LTnvitation au Voyage by Duparc, and Moscagni's Voi Lo Sapete. Miss Dankowski's final group of songs will be Nocturne by Werd, the Unknown God by Gardner, Corals by Treharne, and Ecstasy by Rummel. Eloise Thomas, pianist will assist Miss Dankowski.
