Answer: College bowl teams from DePaul and Mundelein. Contestants are (I. to f.) Stu Berks, Bill Valance, Dick Wilson, Merrily Smith, Mary Anne Fan- nan, Joanne Twomey, Carol Bellamy and Mary Farrell. Name SAC Candidates Nine candidates head the slate for the upcoming SAC elections ac cording to final information re ceived prior to the Skyscraper deadline. Tomorrow's nominations held at 1:10 in the auditorium will com plete the list for the April 2 elec tion. Mickey Coffaro and Judy Hubert lead the race for presidency. Both are sociology majors and primary education minors. Mickey and Judy have held class offices for the past three years. Now president of the junior class, Mickey also served as vice president in freshman year and co- producer of the Variety Show this year. SAC representative for the past two years, Judy was president of her class as a freshman and pub licity chairman for the 1960 Bene fit. Candidates for first vice presi dency which involves heading the Club Coordination Board include Sheila Smith and Sharon Mass. Editorial editor of the Sky scraper, Sheila is also junior class SAC representative and served as publicity chairman for the fall Jazz Concert. An economics major, Sharon is presently vice president of the Economics Club and served as pub licity chairman of the Father- Daughter Dinner. Running for second vice presi dent which means supervising Big Sister activities is Carol Lisowski Trophy who was treasurer of the SAC in sophomore year. Presently SAC representative for her class, Nancy Ward is thus far the only candidate for the of fice of secretary. Three freshman governors will vie for the office of treasurer. They include: Mary Anne Chang, Jo- ann Marchio and Josephine Gosse- ler. The office of social chairman will be the goal of sophomore Pa tricia Appleby. Pat is now so cial chairman of her class and Sophomore Movie Snatches The sophomore class act, The Switch, won the class competition in Friday night's Variety Show. The act was an adaptation of a si lent movie. Patti Tighe, chairman of the group, accepted the trophy for her class. At the Saturday performance trophies were awarded to winners of the solo and group acts. Rae Paul, freshman, won the solo com petition for her jazz piano arrange ment of Sweet Georgia Brown. The judges cast a tie vote for the group acts of The Undertones, folk singers and Dumpty Rex, the Laetare Players' presentation. Mickey Coffaro and Marianne Wagner, producers of The Shhhow, and Mary Williams, SAC president, presented the awards. served as a freshman governor. Present social chairman of the SAC, Gail Grundman will run for the office of NSA coordinator. Gail also served as SAC represen tative in her freshman year. The election will be held Monday, April 9, in the Lounge Area with the i gt;olls open from 9 to 4 p.m. John Carroll Joins College Glee Club The Glee Club has begun rehear sal for their next concert April 8 in the College Theater. Eighty men from John Carroll University in Cleveland will join the girls in presenting Psalm 150 by Caesar Franck, Zip-A-Dee Doo-Dah, and selections by Victor Herbert. The Mundelein Glee Club, accom panied by Joanne Miks, will also present among other selections Ring Out in Joyful Song'' and Deo Gratias. On the weekend of May 5-6, the girls will also join the John Carroll group in Cleveland for their annual Pop Concert. Coach, Contestants Face Full Weekend After defeating DePaul 260-250 last week, the Mundelein College Bowl team will meet the Univer sity of the South Sunday, March 25. The University of the South has overcome John Carroll University 210-135 and the University of New Hampshire 120-25. Friday evening, March 23, Jo anne Twomey, captain, Carol Bel lamy, Mary Farrell and Mary Ann Fannan with coach Patricia O'Don- nell Ewers will leave O'Hare In ternational Airport by jet to spend a weekend in New York at the ex pense of General Electric. The team, after spending two nights at the Waldorf Astoria and seeing a Broadway show, will re port to CBS Studio 52 Sunday morning. The sessions at the television studio will include a briefing with Mr. Allen Ludden, lunch with the producer, Mr. John Geary, and three rehearsals. The one-minute movie to be shown during the half time took eight hours to film. Scenes filmed by Mr. Edward Schager, manager of Schager Systems' film studio, include chapel, Room 405, science experiment, art class, swimming class and graduation scene. Sister Mary Ann Ida, B.V.M., in New York as a member of a panel sponsored by the St. Thomas Workshop, plans to remain for the College Bowl. The program will be televised on Channel 2 at 4:30 p.m. (CST). Texas Educator Selected For '62 Magnificat Medal The 1962 Magnificat Medal will be awarded to Josephine Sobrino, a graduate of Incarnate Word College, Houston, Texas, it has been announced by Sister Mary Ann Ida, B.V.M., president. The award will be presented by His Eminence Albert Cardinal Meyer at a special assembly April 10. Exam Schedule Tuesday, March 27 TTh 8, 10, 12, 2, 4 o'clock classes Wednesday, March 28 MWF 9,11,1, 3 o'clock classes Thursday, March 29 TTh 9, 11, 3 o'clock classes (N.B. 3 o'clock exams will be held at 1 o'clock.) Friday, March 30 MWF 8, 10, 12, 2 o'clock classes. Exams are 50 minutes in length and are held during the regular class period. women's Catholic college, is being awarded to Miss Sobrino for her outstanding contributions in the fields of intercultural understand ing, education and social welfare. Miss Sobrino is presently serv ing as associate professor of mod ern languages at the university and is chairman of their depart ment of Spanish. She holds an A.M. from the Uni versity of Texas and her Ed.D. from the University of Houston. Miss Sobrino also has studied at several foreign universities. Miss Sobrino has been active in aiding the immigration service with the problems of the Mexican immigrants. Among her varied activities she has trained about 300 air cadets in pre-flight subjects; taught Bra zilian flyers English; got her pi lot's license; written special Span ish courses for grade schools and established the first Spanish branch of the International Federation of University Women. Girls Travel to N. Y. To Cheer Bowl Team After a bus ride of 17 hours, a day and a half in New York, 37 girls with two chaperones will cheer the College Bowl team at the CBS studio, Sunday, March 25. Mrs. Leo Gorski, swimming in structor and Miss Gloria Callaci, assistant to the dean of studies will accompany the group, which will leave Chicago's Greyhound Bus Terminal at 5 p.m. Friday. Upon their arrival Saturday morning in New York, they plan to check into the Taft Hotel. During the afternoon most of the students will tour the city. The students plan to attend Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral, Sunday morning. After the television show and dinner the group will leave New York for home. Father Clark To Celebrate Silver Jubilee Reverend William Clark, instruc tor in theology, will celebrate his 25th anniversary as a priest April 3. Father Clark, who has been here since 1956, attended Quigley Pre paratory and St. Mary of the Lake Seminary. After ordination he took post-graduate work at Loyola University. Following his first assignment at Our Lady Help of Christians, Fa- Reverend William Clark ther returned to St. Mary of the Lake as an instructor. This first teaching assignment paved the way for a return appoint ment to Help of Christians. Then Father was transferred to St. Je rome's and his teaching assignment at Mundelein. Father will celebrate a Thanks giving Mass commemorating His anniversary Sunday, April 1 at St. Jerome's. Review Deadline Submit for the June issue of the Review.
