title:
The Child and Champion of Jacobinism, New Christened vide Pitt's speech
date:
October 26, 1801
description:
A fat bishop dips his right hand in a font over which Bonaparte, hat in hand, bends his head; holding an open book, showing that is Horsley, Bishop of Rochester. He looks towards Pitt who stands on the extreme right, bending forward, right hand raised. Between Bonaparte and Pitt stand Wilberforce and Hawkesbury, both looking very young; the latter wears a woman's cap and cloak. Bonaparte wears military dress. The ornate font is supported on sphinxes, symbolical of the Egyptian campaign or of the riddle of Bonaparte's career. Dialogue is in speech balloons over figures. Source: George.
