Catholic Mind Prints Story by Review Editor An article written by senior Ruth Casey for the May, 1947, issue of the Review is reprinted in the November issue of The Catholic Mind. An account of the trials and death of the Abbe Jean Batiffol compiled from letters the Abbe. wrote to his mother, the article is entitled Victimc de Sa Charite. A poem by Miss Casey, titled The Chicagoan, will appear in the forth coming Annual Anthology of College Poetry, published in Los Angeles by the National Poetry association. Articles by Regina Bess, Collctte Clifford, Lucille Cook, and Florence Jankowski, all of the Class of 1947, have appeared as free lance contribu tions in the magazine Impact. Miss Bess is managing editor of the magazine, which is published by the Young Chris tian Workers. A report on public relations in wom- ens denominational colleges, by Mary Kay Jones '44 of the Publicity de partment, appears in the 1947 College Public Relations Annual, published by the American College Public Relations association. N. -y -- NFCCS Fund Drive Enters Last Week Clubs, Classes Donate Talents To Aid Needy Returns from club projects are boost ing the yellow indicator higher on the NFCCS thermometer in the lounge. Students are placing their orders for fruit cakes with members of Alpha Om- icron, the Home Economics department club- The baking and distribution of the holiday viands are being carried out under the supervision of Mary O'Reil ly, project chairman, who will contrib ute the proceeds to the NFCCS fund. Funds collected at the Debate club's Christmas social jolted the yellow in- dicater upward, while the Terrapin club contributed the proceeds of its water show, held Dec. 3. Mundelein newsgirls hawking The Greatest College Newspaper and the Loyola News gathered additional offer ings to the NFCCS fund. Five little angels in Room 401 have been collecting funds for their name sakes in Europe. The angel contest sponsored by the English Round Table closed on Dec. 12. A Sophomore Religion class held a Trinket sale for NFCCS, on Dec. 12. Ramona Niedzielski, Marion Stafford, and Jean Hackett, conducted the sale. Meanwhile, several clubs are sponsor ing charity projects for local groups. Santa Claus, Spanish version, imperson ated by Las Teresianas and Las Tere- sianitas, will distribute Christmas gifts to children at Cordi-Maria settlement, on Dec. 16. Members of the Economics club are collecting dolls for orphans, and the Home Economics club will give a party on Dec. 16 for children attending Holy Family kindergarten. Students in the Clothing classes have made dolls and stuffed animals for 50 of the kindergarten children. The annual SAC-sponsored Skyscraper Ball will be held in the grand ballroom of the Stevens hotel on that date. Cliff Conway and his orchestra will furnish the music. Mary Margaret Doyle is general chair man assisted by Jeanne Smith. Virginia Perry is in charge of the Orchestra committee, whose members are Mary Jo I'ornhofen and Marjorie Coughlin. The Publicity committee consists of Peggy Egan and Blanche Smith, with Ellenmae Quan as chairman. Peggy and Helen Roach have handled the arrange ments with the hotel. Patricia O'Donoghue and Eileen Rooney are on the Chaperon com mittee, and the Bid committee is being managed by Patricia Meany, Marilynne Larsen, Patricia Padden, and Rosemary Murphy. . Announce Dates For Two Plays In February The Drama department will present Martinez-Sierra's play, The Romantic Young Lady, on Feb. 7 and 8, in the college theatre, with Loyola and Mun delein students in stellar roles. The Drama department will also present, on Feb. 28, Thornton Wilder's Our Town, starring winners of the Loyola Play Festival, held during the Thanksgiving holidays in cooperation with the National Catholic Theatre conference. Etudes Are on Piano Concert Program Chopin's Etude, Opus 10. Number 5, known as the Black Key is on the program for the Piano club concert, to be held at 4 p. m. tomorrow in Room 703. Jacqueline Shay will play the Chopin number. Continuing the romantic theme, Mary Mahoney will play Air de Ballet by Moszkowski. With a modem motif. Carmelita Larocco will interpret Pinto's March. Little Soldier. Lucille Valatka will play Poulenc's Mouvements Perpetuels, and Mary Wozniak the second movement of Grieg's Concerto in A Minor. Mundelein, Loyola Carolers Present Holiday Concert The Loyola Glee club and a group of singers from the Mundelein Glee club, directed by Dr. Graciano Salvador, assistant professor of Modern Languages at Loyola, will present a Christmas concert at 8 p.m., on Sunday, Dec. 21, in the Loyola Community theatre. Carols of All Nations is the theme of the concert, in which Grace Komornicki and Mary Heinz will share solo parts with Loyola singers. Miss Komornicki will be a soloist in the opening selection, The Heavens are Telling, by Haydn. Following this and other seasonal num bers, the singers will present the Christmas Cantata, Bethlehem, by Maunderv In the manger scene, Miss Heinz will sing the Ave Maria by Verdi.
