No longer an ivory tower, clothed in isolation, today's college has taken upon itself the concerns of the world that has made its existence possible. It is a microcosm in the macrocosm that surrounds it. Mundelein College, set within the second largest city in America, is part of that city; its students are the city dwellers of the present and of the future. Perhaps the greatest role of the educational process in the year 1968 is to make its students aware of the city and the world. The college and university is called upon to equip themselves with windows that are open to the events of modern man. A skyscraper often tends to dwarf its environment, diminishing the stuff of reality into the realm of insignificance. It looms above the city that has produced it. However, no longer can education look to the clouds for an answer to man's existence. It must, rather, fully immerse itself in the world, in a baptism of concern. Mundelein is a microcosm, for within itself it contains man the shaper of future destiny. We, the graduating class of 1968, invite our colleagues and fellow men to step inside our microcosm for a brief time to see us our actions, our hopes, our fun, our problems as we remember them.
