GD Amid cherry blossoms and Spanish lace, senior Muriel Millar, prefect of the Sodality, crowned the Blessed Virgin with May's fresh flowers last Tuesday. The honor-guard included (left to right) senior Georgianna McGregor, junior Jean Halm, sophomores Marcella Mulveil, and Patricia Hanson, and junior Betty Hoban, who led 45 attendants in the procession. The ceremony opened with Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament, solemnized in the college theatre by the Reverend William P. Murphy, chairman of the Religion department, and a sermon by the Reverend John P. Down ey, S.J., of Loyola university. Wearing caps and gowns and reciting the Rosary, the seniors led the student body to the library campus, where a shrine was prepared on the curving terrace. The guard of honor and the class attendants, wearing summer formals and long gloves, preceded the Sodality prefect and her small attendants, the flower girls and crown bearer. Traditionally, alumnae children fill these roles. This year, the children were Allen Patrick O'Connor, son of Agnes Gill O'Connor '35; Constance and Kathleen Mitchell, daughters of Marguerite McNulty Mitchell '40; and Susan and Sharon Steinkemper, daughters of Doro thy Foy Steinkemper '39. While Miss Millar crowned the statue of the Blessed Virgin, the assembled students sang O Mary We Crown Thee with Blossoms Today; Bring Flowers of the Rarest, and other May hymns, and recited the Act of Consecration. 1 For the last time ... a senior unpins her fragrant flower corsage . . Elected this month to stand at the helm of the Student Activities Council during 1947 and 1948. Mary Margaret dI president; Jeanne Smith, vice-president; Marilynne Larson, secretary; and Patricia Padden, treasurer, took their ofl oaths of office during today's College Day ceremony. Miss Doyle received the gavel from Marianne Peterson, going president, and closed the last meeting of the academic year.
