Bridal Party Will Climax Fashions Bright colored gabardine suits, gay print dresses, and flowery chapeaux will frame the radiant faces of the junior and senior models when the spotlight turns upon them at the Benefit Card Party and Fashion Show at the Stevens Hotel, April 26. The climax of the most exciting fashion revue since 1941 will be the bridal party, with models elected by the senior class. Dark-haired Dolores Hoban, who wears a diamond on the strategic finger, will wear the traditional white satin gown and net veil. Her attendants, gowned in pastel shades, will be Eleanor Layden, maid-of-honor, Jeanne Kilroy and Peggy Cole, bridesmaids. Fashions from Russeks Michigan Avenue shop will be modeled by seniors Marian Barrett. Patricia Cassidy, Doris Conway, Mary Kay Dooley, Mary Catherine Gorman, Lois Hintze, Irene Kenney, Ruth Lichtenwalur, Gloria Luxem, Jane McMurray, Jeanne Mc Nulty, Jeanne O'Connor, Mary Kay Semlow, and Patricia Shucll. Junior models will be Zita Armstrong, Beatrice Berteau, Ursula Brodbeck. Dorothy Case, Lucille Cook, Mary Alice Courtney, Margaret Dalton. Attend Meetings Of North Central Sister Mary Josephine, B.V.M., Pres ident of the College, Sister Mary Ber- narda, B.V.M., Dean, Sister Mary St. I lelen, B.V.M., Registrar, and other members of the Faculty attended the recent meetings of the North Central association and of the National Catho lic Educational association. For the past five years, Mundelein has been associated with the North Central research study on the Preparation of High School Teachers in Colleges of Liberal Arts. Announce Easter Vacation, Holy Week Tradition The College will close for the Easter holidays on Thursday, April 11, at 5 p.m., and will reopen on Tuesday, April 23. In accordance with a Sodality project, students will cooperate to keep a guard of honor at adoration throughout Holy Thursday. By signing a list on -the Sodality Board, the students may indicate the time which they wish to spend in adoration in their parish churches on Holy Thursday. Represent College At NFCCS Meeting In Philadelphia Jeanne McNulty, president of the In ternational Relations club, and Ethel Dignan, president of Las Teresianas, will represent Mundelein at the meeting of the Inter-American Commission of the Na tional Federation of Catholic College Students, to lie held in Philadelphia on April 13. Miss McNulty will give the report of the Midwest unit of the commission, and Miss Dignan will take part in a quiz program on Latin America. The stud ents will visit New York and Washing ton before returning to Chicago. Nominate for S.A.C. On April 23 Nominations for president, secretary, and treasurer of the Student Activities Council for the academic year 1946-47 will be made at the all-college as sembly on Tuesday, April 23. The president will be elected from the incoming senior class; the secretary from the incoming junior class, and the treasurer from the incoming sophomore class. Appoint Faculty Member To Executive Committee Sister Mary Donald, B.V.M., chairman of the Classics department, was reap pointed to the executive committee of the Illinois Classical conference, at its annual meeting held recently in Bloom- ington. Sister Mary Augustina, B.V.M., chairman of the History department, also attended the Conference, Under discussion were the similarity and differences of various subjects, in cluding: The Concept of Democracy: Alexander and Augustus, and The Con cept of International Law: Ius Gentium. Freshmen Take Over Skyscraper Office Today at 4 p.m. the regular mem bers of THE SKYSCRAPER staff yield their pens and typewriters to the freshmen, who will write and edit the next issue of the paper, scheduled to appear on Monday, May 6. Because of the Easter vacation, there will be no edition on April 22. Tryouts, which are open to all freshmen, will be held in Room 305 today at 3 and at 4 p.m., and, for the benefit of students who have class at 3 and at 4 today, tomorrow, also at 3 and at 4 p.m. Biologist Reports On Amoeba Research Will Publish Paper Read At A.A.A.S. Meeting Dwight L. Hopkins, Ph.D., of the Biology department, read a paper on The Nucleus of Entamoeba Histolytica in Action, before members of the American Association for the Advancement of Science which met in St. Louis, March 29, 30. Co-authored by Dr. Hopkins and Kathleen Warner '42, who has a Master's degree in biology, the paper will be pub lished in the Journal of Parasitology. Dr. Hopkins began research on the amoeba in 1923, and has completed work on four different species, the current paper embodying the first report of his research, with Miss Warner, on the functional cytology of the Entamoeba histolytica. In 1937, recognizing the value of Dr. I lopkins' research, the American Philos ophical society awarded him a three-year research grant. His discoveries about the structure and life functions of dis ease-producing entamoebae will be of benefit to science in that they will en able scientists to destroy the amoeba without injuring the human body. Sodality Sponsors War Relief Drive Cooperating with the Bishop's War and Emergency Relief Fund committee, the Sodality is sponsoring a drive for food and clothing for the starving chil dren of Europe. Contributions may be brought to the Lounge or to Room 302. Martha Wade introduced the campus drive at the assembly on March 28, after the Reverend William P. Murphy, of the Religion department, made a plea for student cooperation with the work of the committee. Into the generous hands of America, Father declared, the Holy Father has given the cause of humanity, reminding us that love of God will be measured by our fraternal charity. J
