View south from the Skyscraper Building after completion in 1930. Kenmore Street
is on the right. The white, Spanish-influenced bungalow featured in the bottom of the
photograph was the temporary home to chief architect of the Skyscraper, Nairne Fischer,
while the building was being built. The bungalow was torn down in 1957 and the Sisters of
Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (BVMs) built Wright Hall on the same spot two years
later. Wright Hall served as the residence for sister scholastics and later as a retirement
community for BVMs. Loyola University Chicago bought Wright Hall in 2011 and renamed the
building BVM Hall. 8" x 10" Buildings/Campus: Skyscraper Construction
