Christmas Music, Tableaux Form Part Of Cantata The final strains of the Halle lujah chorus echoing through the auditorium last night marked the close of the annual Christmas Can tata, Under the Stars. The Cantata, a Christmas story in song, music, and tableau, was presented by the joined talents of the Art, Drama, and Music stu dents. To open the program, the Orchestra and Glee club, un der the direction of Mr. Adal bert Huguelet, presented a pro gram of Christmas music and carols. The singers then withdrew to the sides of the stage and the curtain parted on the opening tableau, The Annunciation, in which Catherine Spinner appeared as the Virgin Mary and Phyllis Garrity as the Angel Gabriel bringing the news of the Coming of Christ. In the second tableau, And There Were Shepherds, Virginia Casey, Ellen Cibula, and Joyce Barry ap peared as shepherds silhouetted against the Judean skies. The Virgin's Lullaby, the third tableau, was introduced by one of the loveliest melo dies of the program, Mary's Slumber Song by Hamblen. In it were Joan Sramek as the Madonna and Vasilia Soutsos as St. Joseph worshipping the Child. In the fourth tableau. The Magi, Irene Hojnacki, Leda Pitaro, and Joyce Gordon appeared as the Magi bringing their gifts to the Child. Tiny Angus Bradley, five-month- old son of Alumna Eddy Jo Noo- nan Bradley '46, appeared as the Christ Child in the arms of Mary Ann Lashmet, the Madonna, in the final tableau. Marilyn Cuccio, Constance Gon zalez, Rosemari Pellegrini, and Marilyn Scimeca were adoring an gels taking encores as the audience applauded the scene and the musi cal rendition of Handel's Halle lujah Chorus, from the Messias. Among the soloists in the Glee club were Edna Behm, Mary Cec- chin, Joan Doherty, Joan Lorden, Mary Olson, Nancy Ostos, Mary Sklayounos, Irene Teply, Madon na Toney, Yvonne Datnien, Bar bara Schuster, and Marilyn Zanke. Accompanists were Jeanne Regan and Mary Ellen Casey. Mr. George Petterson, tech nical director, supervised the work of Dolores Ferraro as stage and light crew manager, and of Mary Shearin and Lor etta Lind, co-chairmen of cos tumes. On Miss Ferraro's crew were Mary Ann Cashman, Janice Ilaer- tel, Patricia Heavers, Marytliomas Helgeson, Rosemary Marubio, Rose Rohter, and Ellen Schoen. On the Costume committee were Gloria Butler, Dolores De Paoli, Patricia Lawrence, Marilee Mil- roy, Loretta Sheffner, Judith Skwi- ot, and Consuela Thiery. Dinner, Program Please Alumnae Dinner and the theatre were at tractions for Science and Math ematics alumnae last night, when they enjoyed a reunion in the tea room and attended Under the Stars. Biology students were in charge of the dinner.
