May 18, Sodality prefect Joan Horan was assisted by Mary . gnes Moran and Marilyn Cuccio as she crowned the statue of the Blessed Virgin. Barbara Gaul, Irene Hojnacki, and Valerie Lubach. Speech Clinic Closes For Summer Holiday The Speech Clinic concluded its final term of the year on May 22, and will resume Oct. 4. Speech cxami- I nations will be conducted during September. Since September, 1953, 37 chil dren ranging in .age from four to 14 years, in addition to Mundelein stu dents, have received speech therapy totaling over 500 hours of teaching. I Student clinicians who assisted with the program are Speech majors I Xancy Crawford, Angela De Elorio, Nancy Mahoney, Joan Hoiss, and Psychology major, Mary Kay Snyder. Catholic Action Through Music Merits Honors Sister Mary Bernarda, B.V.M., Dean of the College, presented Delta Mu Theta honors to Music majors Emily Kloc and Rosemary Ernst, Mav 18, at 3 p.m., in the Recital hall. Mundelein's is the Eta chapter of the national Catholic music honor society, who aims to recognize achievement in musicianship and Catholic leadership through music. Following the presentation of honors, the Music department Fac ulty and students took part in the Picture Hanging, a tradition honor ing the senior music majors. The seniors and their mothers were guests at tea. Miss Fitzgerald, an Fnglish ma jor, is a member of the SAC and served as treasurer of her fresh man class. Activities of Physics major Bar bara Moran include serving as SAC Representative. Physics Major Has Summer Appointment Arlene Halko. junior Physics major, will have opportunity to ap ply her scientific knowledge this summer when she serves as an en gineer's aid at Langley Field, Vir ginia, by appointment of the National .Advisory committee for Aeronautics. Sister Mary Pierre, B.V.M., chairman of the Home Economics department, will teach two courses in the St. Louis university Graduate school, and will serve as chairman for one-day's meeting of the Univer sity Special Institute in New Trends in Home Economics Education. .Agnes Blanc, Ph.D., of the French department, will teach in the French department of Laval university, Quebec. HAPPILY c mPleting their senior year of re search in the fields of quinine chemistry and coordination chem istry, Mary Canning and Joan Busch are pictured in the labora tory. Four Chemists Do Independent Research Work Four of the eight Senior Chem istry majors carried on independent research problems this year. Joan Busch and Milda Gulbinskas have completed their studies on improved methods for the semi-micro prepa ration of carbonate bio-propylene- diamine cobalt chloride and of dich- loro bi-propylcnedianiinc cobalt chloride. Mary Canning has investigated the bromination of 4.6-dichloroquin- aldine and the subsequent hyrolysis of its bromination product. Patricia Fitzmorris has investigated the bro- niiiialion of 4-inydrozy-7-cbloro- quinaldine and the subsequent hydro lysis of the bromination product. Both these projects are portions of a new. more direct and less ex pensive synthesis of 4, 7-dichloro- quinoline which is an important in termediate in the preparation of many anti-malarial drugs. Barbara Campbell will wear the pearl necklace of her paternal grand mother when she weds Paul Stinnc- fnrd at 11 a.m. in St. Ignatius. After their marriage at St. Hen- n-'s church at 10 a.m. Mass.
