Terrapins Plan Trip to Toyland For Three Nights Somewhere Over the Rainbow in lands of make believe, from Arabia to Toyland, the Terrapins will en tertain tonight, tomorrow night, and Wednesday night at the annual Water Carnival. Terrapin members who have writ ten and will enact the ballets are Seniors Marcia Daly, Joan Hoiss. and Nancy Westphal; Juniors Alice Campbell, Marie Therese Gauer. Augustina I.citman. .Anita Nelson, Eugenie Wallin, and Phyl lis Wockner. Freshmen are Mary Lambrecht, Eugenie Lavigne, and Mary Ellen Ryan, assisted by Mary Ellen Lowry and Dolores Mages. Connecting commentary between acts will be narrated by Alice Dix on, Rosemary Brennan, and Mary Ann Lashmet. Ellen Cibula has planned the pro gram, and Vasilia Soutos created the backdrop. Janice Mooney will provide descriptive slides, and Joan Overholt, Noreen Smith, and Pa tricia King will be in charge of lighting. Augustina Lehman is chairman of the Ticket committee, assisted by Joanne Boehm and Mary Lou O' Brien. Costumes are original Ter rapin creations. SAC Speaks Up . . . The Music department stars Friday evening in the Spring era cert, guaranteed to be as beaut ful as the Winter concert and J revealing of student talent. May 22 is All-College Variet Show night. The extravagaaa written by students, starring sn dents, for students, their pared relatives, and friends, will spari with talent, humor, and songs and dances. Women's Athletic Association Plans Dinner Meeting Basketballs and tennis nets will be left in the gymnasium when members of the Women's Athletic association gather at Promentory Point for the grand finale of the Sports year, the annual Dinner and Awards ceremony, scheduled for 6:30 p.m.. on May 19. Presentation of awards and the election of officers will follow the dinner. Awards include the Gold Seal to seniors active in the WAA for three years and the Sportsman ship Trophy, which will go to a junior. Phyllis Wockner, captain of the Junior Volleyball team, will accept the award for the championship team in the Volleyball intramurals. Members of the Junior team in clude Patricia Glod, Vasilia Soutsos, Odiele Brusseau, Irene Hojnacki. and Arlene Halko. Patricia O'Donnell, captain of the Freshman Basketball team, will ac cept the award for the victorious team in the Basketball intramurals. Members of the team include Alyce Fiedler, Maureen Mc- Donough, Mary Ellen Lowry, Me- lanie Breundl, Jean Chester, Jane Panka, Rosemary Esposito, and Rose Rohter. Letters for Varsity Basketball will go to Melanie Breundl, Arlene Hal ko, Jane Panka, Patricia O'Donnell, Anne Davidson, and Catherine Can non. Letters for Varsity Volleyball will go to Dorothy Considine, Ann Jur- kash, and Grace Walker. La Donna Brusseau, Alyce Fied ler, Mary Baietto, Maureen Mc- Donough, and Rosemary Esposito will receive letters for both Volley- hall and Basketball. Tennis Balls Tell Tournament Tale Blazing sun . . . swishing rackets . . . crises of love, match and set . . . the flourish of balls sailing over nets. All this will be the atmosphere, when the Tennis squad competes in the annual Tennis tournament at lames Milliken university, on May 14 and 15. Competitors in the tournament include Mary Buckley, Laverne Esenther, Grace Walker, Patricia Glod. Marcia Daly. Phyllis Wock ner. Rosemary Jones, and Marilyn Baer. Miss Daly won a third place trophy in the competition last year. Colleges competing in the tourna ment include Rosary, De Paul, Brad ley, Chicago Teachers, University of Illinois, Blackburn, and James Milliken. A banquet for the en trants will follow the Friday elimi nations. Freshman Takes Two Show Ribbons Carole Anne Bauer, freshman member of the Riding club, won two recognitions at the Parkway Stables annual Spring Horse show recently. She placed sixth in the Bridle Path class and fourth in the Ad vanced Equitation class. Students Speak Up For NFCCS Awards Four students won superior awards at the annual NFCCS For ensics Speech tournament, held here April . 10. with 60 colleges competing. They are Melita Lynch, Marilyn Scimeca, Barbara Mannix, and La verne Esenther. The Debate teams, including Mary Frances Chambliss, Mary Agnes Moran, Joyce Gutzeit, and Faith Farley, won four rounds in the De bate contests held at Loyola. Miss Farley and Barbara Pierce, both sophomores, have merited membership in Delta Sigma Rho, national honorary forensics so ciety. Diane Barrett, incoming junior, was nominated for the office of third vice-president of the Chicago region NFCCS, at the final region al congress of the academic year. May 2, at Barat college. Tuesday at 6:45 p.m., was the appearance of Sheilya Neary '51, of the WGN-TV editori al staff, interviewing Mrs. Ivy Baker Priest, treasurer of the United States, a guest in Chicago. Thoughts of Determined's gal lant victory at Churchill Downs will mingle with the flutter of mul ti-colored ribbons as the audience gathers for the annual Horse show, May 16. Glistening grays and chest nuts, graceful riders, and an adroit riding master will dis play their equestrian talents at the New Parkway Riding aca demy, at 7:30 next Sunday evening. Events will be according to classes, which include the Novice class, the Intermediate class, the Advanced Equitation, the Alumnae class, Jumping, Championship class, loon race, and Musical Chairs horse back.
