The Kappa Gamma Pi key, conferred by the national Catholic honor society of women's colleges, will he awarded at Commencement to five students, elected by vote of the Faculty and the senior class as outstanding in scholarship, char acter, leadership, and service. I Seniors meriting the award are Anna marie Berk, Betty Vestal. Clare Ander- i. ii. Louise French, and Helen Conlon. Miss Berk is president of the Student Activities Council, and during her college years has served as W.A.A. president. Terrapin vice-president, secretary and vice-prefect of the Sodality, secretary of the student section of the American Chemical society, and social chairman of the Science Forum. Miss Vestal is co-editor of the Sky- scr.m'kk, and has served two years as class president. She has been a member of the varsity debate team, chairman of the Apostolic academy of the Sodality, treasurer of International Relations. and she has contributed to the pviEw and to Quest. Miss Anderson, the other SKYSCRAPER co-editi r. was junior class vice-president, editor of the Cisca page of the Nkw Woki.I), winner of the Daily News short story contest in 1939, a contributor to the Review and to Quest, and has merited humns each year. Miss Conlon is senior S.A.C. repre sentative, a member of the varsity debate team, chairman of the Propagation of the Faith committee, and a member of the senior basketball team. She has merited honors consecutively, and is a member ot the Science Forum, Die Rothcnsteincr Besellschaft, and the Debate club. Miss French, the other senior S.A.C. representative, is vice-president of the Or- chestra. president of the Classics club, a Sodality social actionist, and has merited honors for four years. Faculty Member Wins Fellowship Sister Mary Liguori. B.V.M.. of the sociology department, has been awarded a fellowship in sociology to the grad uate school of the Catholic University of America, where she has been doing re search for the past year. The fellowship was awarded because of outstanding work in the department. Sister Mary Liguori is an active mem ber of the Catholic Association for Inter national Peace, the Chicago Society of Catholic Psychologists, and the American Catholic Sociological society. Twice A Queen Betty Kreuzer, senior art major who was queen of the Loyola university prom on May 4, will be queen of the Mundelein Senior Ball on May 29. Education Leader Is Baccalaureate Speaker on May 26 The Reverend George W. Johnson, Ph.D.. l.L. D.. of the department of education at the Catholic University of America, will give the Baccalaureate ad dress next Sunday, at 4 p.m.. in the col lege theatre. A leader in educational fields. Dr. John son is well known as a lecturer, author, and editor, lie is a speaker on the Catho lic Hour, author of a three-volume Bible history series, and an editor of thcC. On Sunday evening, after the Bac calaureate ceremony, the annual Faculty banquet will be held in the French room of the Drake Hotel, with George M. Schiiieing. Ph.D.. of the chemistry de partment presiding as toastmaster. Ph.D., of the psychology department: (Continued on page 7. col. 5) Senior Art Major Wins Scholarship Georgene McGowan, senior art major, learned Wednesday that she has won a full-year scholarship to the Manley-Bridge School of Fashion Art, as a result of a three-day competitive examination, in which 511 Chicago art students were en tered. Annamarie Berk, retiring S.A.C. presi dent, opened the Convocation. Dorothy Hollahan. prefect, spoke for the Sodality, and the class presidents, Marguerite Mc Nulty. senior ; Dorothy Homan, junior; Margery Stanley, sophomore, and Mari anne Donahue, freshman, gave the class reports. In the name of the Faculty and stu- Student (jroup of American Chemical Society Meets Here Expect 100 Delegates At Sessions Tomorrotu Over KM) college and university students from various schools in Illinois will meet here tomorrow for the first general half- day meeting of the Student Associate Croup of the American Chemical Society. Organized last year in Chicago, the Student Croup is the only one of its kind, and is devoted to the advancement of chemical studies on the college level. Annamarie Berk, senior chemistry major, was elected secretary of the Croup at its organization meeting in 1939, and was reelected this year. The meeting, which will open at 2 p.m. in the seminar on the fourth floor, with George M. Schmeing, Ph.D., of the chem istry department welcoming the delegates, will consist of a general session followed by two group gatherings. Dr. D. N. Cheronis of Wright Junior college will address the students, and delegates from Loyola university, the L'niversity of Illinois, Ilerzl City college, Wright Junior college, Lewis Institute, and Central V.M.C.A. college will read papers. Ralph Pearson, of Lewis Institute, chairman of the Group, will preside. George Schaffer of Central Y.M.C.A. is membership chairman, and Seymour Co hen, of Herzl Junior college, is vice- chairman.
