Page one hundred sixteen Page one hundred seventeen MAY May 3 Potential freshmen besiege our ramparts and survive the scholarship examinations to all appearances at least. May 4-8 Music week. Mr. Waldorf helps us celebrate with a beautiful organ recital, and the students appear in selected numbers. May 5 The artist colony of eighth floor moves down to entertain at a gay bridge tea in the forma social room, brightening the function with characteristically charming table and door prizes. May 8 Roses for our mothers and a coronation ceremony honoring our Lady, personated by our most representative student, fittingly culminated with Benediction. May 9 A momentous occasion The Papal delegate visits our college and leaves a message for the students (it being Saturday). He likes our building and our achievements, and he likes the angels at our door. May 9 The Dream of the Ancient Mariner. And what a dream it was The Albatross died in a beautiful plunge. We wonder if we are dreaming, or if these are real sea fairies swimming and diving so skillfully. lay0 13 The Mundelein-Loyola May party. An elevated affair ranging from the gymnasium on second to the roofs on fourth and eighth. And our spirits were uplifted accordinglyr / J J 3 -* May 14 Ciscora meets at Mundelein. What's all this about indifference to Catholic student activities? May 15 The Commerce Club enters the social whirl with a splash and a bridge party, too, on the pool room beach. May 18 We represent Roumania at the League of Nations council meeting. And thus the wave of interest in post-war peace proceedings is explained. May 22 Pastel shades of graceful evening gowns, dainty corsages, the conventional black- and-white of men's evening clothes, the lilting music of Johnny Maitland's orchestra, and Mundelein promenades with chosen escorts. May 24 Harmony, melody, music, and son' the Glee Club is having a concert. JUNE June 3 Cardinal Mundelein clad in stately pontifical robes, the mellow tones of the organ, students with serious faces moving in solemn procession yes, you've guessed it. Dedication day The dignified ceremonies were unforgettable and bound us with new ties to our loved Alma Mater. June 4 Honors Day brings the installation of new officers, the recognition of all who have distinguished themselves during the year in studies, sports, and activities. And then, good-bye till next year. Why is it that school closes with a program so enjoyable that we want to linger on for just a little while longer? Now if our marks were read publicly June 6 Exams are over, term papers in, all aboard for the boat ride We will feel as the Mariner did when his boat finally started to move after periods of coma and dreadful mental anguish. ,w * gt; The Tower f 19 3 1
