Page Four SKYSCRAPER Quick Santa, A Snow Suit For Winter Sports Weekend In Michigan, Jan. 14*16 Skiing, tobaganning, and ice-skating are on the agenda for students who take advantage of the Winter Sports Weekend, Jan. 14-16, under the chairmanship of WAA president Patricia Glod. Reservations are made at a lodge in Iron Mountain, Michigan, and outdoor experts will be along to help ama teur athletes fasten on their skiis. Jane Panka is chairman of the - Weekend, assisted hy Ann David son, Patricia O'Donnell, and Miss Glod. Approximately 45 students are expected to attend. The weekenders will leave the Northwestern station downtown at 4:10 on Friday afternoon, and will return about 7 a.m., on Monday, Jan. 17, just in time for 9 a.m. classes. What Goes On . . . Candlelighting tomor row, new to the freshmen but loved by upperclassmen who say, Wait until you see the Cross of Candles, will climax the 1954 Christmas season in true Munde lein fashion. Physical Therapy Is January Lecture Topic Biology club members will wel come a successful career-girl on Jan. 13 at 4 p.m., when Dorothy Schmugge ex '48 discusses oppor tunities in physical therapy. Representing the American Phy sical Therapy society, Miss Schmug ge will also show a film detailing the work of the physical therapist. Following the Career panels, Sister Mary Bernarda, B.V.M., Dean, will award prizes to students entering winning papers in the Writing contest. Marion Whelan '53, copy writer for a local advertising agency, will judge the news stories. Jane Roach '53, copy writer for a local retail store, will judge the feature stories. Juanita Gilmore '50, advertis ing manager and columnist for Books on Trial, will judge the book reports. Patricia Nealin '49, of the WGN-TV film editing staff, will judge the book reviews. Varsity Team Wins All Games In Volleyball Defeating the National College of Education for the second time, Dec. 9, the Varsity Volleyball team closed its season with undefeated glory. Theresa Zacker, manager of the team, commends the Captain, Rosemary Esposito, and the 12 students who have rolled up five intercollegiate victories. In a fast-moving game, Dec. 9, the Varsity led the score. 30 to National College's 15. Earlier vic tories were over the University of Chicago, De Paul, National College, and Rosary college. On the team are 10 sophomores, including Miss Esposito, Maureen McDonaugh, Mary Lambrecht, Carol Guthardt, Mary Drever, Ar lene Jones, Vivian Graham, Ann Walsh, Jane Panka, and Ann Dav idson. Seniors Model Furs, Sportswear For Auxiliary One hundred members of the Womans auxiliary watched stu dent models display furs and sportswear in a Fashion revue in Lincoln Village, Dec. 8. Mrs. Walter King, mother of Patricia King, senior, was chair man of the revue.
