Members of the Mundelein team will be Joan Corder, Jewel Crosby, Mary Gonwa, Dorothy Dresden, Mary Rose Allen, Patricia Gavagan, and Grace Greeley. Others on the team are Frances Kel ly, Dolores Muclleman, Peggy Murphy, Frances Mclnerney, Lorraine Peters, Maureen Philbin, Mary Jane Henry, and Joan Werschberg. Lane Tech Coach Talks on Swimming Mundelein's Swimming team extend ed an invitation to Loyola's team to at tend a lecture on famous swimmers given by John R. Newman, coach at Lane Tech high school and father of Virginia Newman, captain of the rac ing team. The lecture will be held at the home of Rita Gauer, swimming instructor at Mundelein. Movies of famous rac ing stars will be shown. Refreshments will be served after the lecture. Cardinal Confers Medal Riding Club Goes On Breakfast Ride The Riding Club held its second breakfast ride of the year on Dec. 8 in Lincoln Park. The outing was open to all students. Breakfast was served immediately af terwards at Vine Gardens. Chairman of the ride was Louise Pierotti. Journalism Majors Win Recognition This is By-Line week in the Jour nalism department. Mary Leona Mer rick '49 has her by-line on a series of articles in the Chicago Tribune, for which she is a society reporter. Nancy Kelly, senior, has a by-line on a feature story on Our Lady of Guadalupe, in the December 11 issue of Our Sunday Visitor. Peggy But ler, junior, wrote the script for the Irish skit in the Rosenwald Museum's series of dramatic sketches entitled Christmas Around the World. Home Economists Plan Homecoming Invitations have been sent to the alumnae of the Home Economics de partment for Homecoming, on Dec. 18. The invitations are in the form of newsletters telling club events. On the invitation committee are Betty Jacobsen, Rose Burke, Patricia O'Callahan, Mary McCarthy, Joan Ehmann, Rosemary McShane, and Rosemary McAuliff. Red Cross Members Provide Entertainment For Children's Ward The Entertainment and Instruction committee of the Red Cross unit is sponsoring a new program of enter tainment for the Orthopedic Children's ward at Illinois Research hospital. Drama majors and Red Cross mem bers have volunteered to tell stories and play records for the children every Saturday afternoon from 2 to 4. Foreign language students are trans lating thank you letters which have been sent to Red Cross workers from overseas. Leadership, Movies, Comic Books Form Topics for Panels A series of panels designed to eval uate leadership among college students, the influence of comic books on chil dren, and the educational value of cur rent movies are planned by the Speech classes. Literature Class Highlights Qreek Tragedies in Panel The World Literature classes held panel discussions on eight classic Greek tragedies during the past month. Mary McCarthy, chairman of the group that discussed Antigone, was as sisted by Nancy Kelly, Patricia Howe, Jean Harvey, Roseann Geismann, Pa tricia Giblin, Marilyn Turner and Mar ion Travaglini. June Stebbins and Lucia Bogut were chairmen of the discussions on Elec tra by Sophocles and Euripides. Marie Forsyth, Nona Arnoldi, and Lois Oeh- lerking were members of the panels. Oedipus Rex was discussed by chair man Joan Merrick and Germaine Rohl- fing, Mary Jo Bornhofen, and Patricia O'Mara.
