Mrs. Pat Domlngues, anoth er Northwestern intern, is working with the international students with Mundelein's counselor, Mrs. Sylvia War shaw. The international students certainly have special needs, says Mrs. Domlngues, but I don't want to choose a direc tion and shove them in it. I want them to decide. Because all the international students work, they do not have time for a formal club. However, they have agreed to meet informally to plan pro jects and discuss their prob lems. So far Mrs. Domtagues has made arrangements with the International Fellowship Program for the students to stay in private homes over Thanksgiving vacation. Mrs. Markels and Mrs. Do mlngues are participating in a new program at Northwestern where they gain credit for practical experience in Mun delein's administration offices. Last year Northwestern gave credit to their students work ing in their offices, but this is the first time the interns are working off campus. According to Dr. Frank Miller, counselor of the educa tion program at Northwestern, Mundelein was chosen be cause of the strong recom- mendation of Mrs. Gloria Lewis, Mundelein's dean of women. Last year Mrs. Lewis was a faculty member of the school of education and the co-ordinator of the counseling lab at Northwestern. Both Mrs. Markels and Mrs. Do- ingues are her former stu dents. Because Mundelein is a small institution, Mrs. Mar kels thinks that there is more Faculty member pushes Con Con Sister Mary Liguori Brophy, a member of the League of Women Voters of Illinois, is crusading for a change in the state constitution. In support of a constitutional convention, she em phasizes the importance of voting and voting correctly. Her task is an especially difficult one because, according to Illinois election laws, those who neglect to place the vital X on the ballot are actually voting against the proposal. The blue ballot, known as Con Con, will be distributed to voters in the Nov. 5 election. It does not automatically provide for new laws and a new constitution but simply authorizes the right to hold a convention. Such a legislative gathering is needed to update Illinois' present constitution. As it exists, this docu ment is twice as long as the federal constitution and consists of many details and restrictions that should instead be in statutes. For example, this state's constitution mentions the 1892 Columbian Exposition, but it does not provide for women's suffrage. In Con Con is accepted, each article will be individually presented to the voters for referendum. HAHRAHAH JAILED GIAHCAHA flexibility and less confusion and bureaucracy to contend with than at a large school. Mrs. Lewis feels that the benefits of the program are threefold. First it offers the students at Mundelein addi tional personnel for consulta tion. It offers practical experi ence to the students studying at Northwestern and it en hances Northwestern's reputa tion. Once a week each of the interns takes care of everyone that walks in the dean of students office, according to Mrs. Domtagues. She holds of fice hours Wednesday morn- tag and Mrs. Markels comes in on Friday. After receiving her M.S. from Louisiana University, Mrs. Domlngues taught, but came to realize how much teaching depended on a per sonal approach to students. Her interest then geared to counseling on the college lev el. Mrs. Markels received her B.A. in psychology at North western. Since then she has taught in Chicago primary MRS. Students inter ested in these discovery groups should contact the dean of students office soon. Nixon says, Vote as though your whole life depended on it.
