Advance by Retreat PREPAREDNESS in conflict has become the keynote of all modern wars physical wars entail the building up of vast armies and the marshalling of thousands of ships on the red seas of war; economic con flict involves the firm grounding of principles of social justice and com mon sense against the uprooting, radical arguments of red collectivism; and spiritual battles call for previous understanding of the conditions of one's immortal soul and the construction of a breastwork of a Catholic philosophy of life to protect that soul from the onslaughts of modern subtleties of sin. Once a year, Mundelein College offers to her students the opportunity of taking this spiritual inventory and of strengthening their practical philosophy for future wars. Once a year at retreat time, every Mundelein student may examine her spiritual life and eliminate from it all un christian tendencies. And once a year at retreat time the practical, collegiate Catholic en ters into the spirit of retreat with an intelligent eagerness that places a true evaluation on life and living, and with a practical spirituality that results in renewed soul energy. It is now time that Catholic college students, preparing for leadership in society, realize the seriousness of their situation. It is now time that they consider their own need for spiritual strength in a world of chaotic standards. It is now time that every student take a vacation from worldly life and re-arm her soul for another year of conflict.
